The IASLC 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer is delighted to provide Education Awards for Developing Countries, Early Career Researchers, Nurse or Allied Health Professionals and Tobacco Control Awards as well as the IASLC International Mentorship Program. IASLC 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer Nurse or Allied Health Professional Education Award Application
Eligibility Criteria
  • Submit (as presenter) and have submitted an abstract for WCLC 
  • Must be a current IASLC Member
  • You must certify/agree that you do not already have funding from another source (employer, etc.) 
  • Professional role in Nursing or Allied Health. 
  • For Early Career Applicants: Within 3 years of initial faculty appointment or within 3 years of completing training in a nursing or allied health professional setting (For example, the candidate must be appointed to faculty or have accepted placement after September 8, 2021). 
  • For Developing Country Applicants: Must reside in one of the countries identified by the World Bank list as a Developing Country. This list is located on the IASLC website: https://www.iaslc.org/Membership/Developing-Countries-List.

2024 IASLC International Mentorship Program
About the Program

The International Mentorship Program is a professional development and education program for early-career thoracic malignancies-focused physicians/researchers from economically-developing countries. The awardees are matched with well-established scientific and clinical mentors from hospitals, health and research facilities within the hosting WCLC region. The awardees will be mentored during the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) and then the awardees will visit the mentor’s institution, shadow the mentor, meet and interact with other physicians/researchers at the mentor’s institution for approximately 5 days following the WCLC. The detailed program is determined by the mentor.

Goals of the Program
  • Foster the professional development and education of early-career thoracic malignancies-focused physicians/researchers from economically developing countries globally.
  • Share information and ideas and teach skills that the awardee can in turn pass along to their colleagues at their home intuitions.
  • Establish communication and collaborative relationships between the mentor and mentee, and their respective institutions that will last well into the future.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Resides in a Developing Country as defined by IASLC Membership Guidelines.*
  • Must be a current IASLC Member
  • Currently corresponds to the World Bank list of countries in the following income groups: low income, lower middle income and upper middle income.
  • Individuals early in career, less than 5 years since start of MD fellowship or PhD postdoctoral training or equivalent training based on home country.
  • Individuals who have submitted an abstract (as presenter) to the WCLC for the year that they are applying will have preference.
  • Please note if you have already received the IASLC International Mentorship Award once, you are not eligible to apply for this award again.
