The ISPRS 2026 Congress invites proposals for Forum sessions.
The Forum track takes place in parallel with the scientific sessions with the objective of addressing the interactions between science, public organizations, industry and decision-makers on hot topics of the geospatial community. The forum is not a place to make research presentations or promote commercial activities but a proper place to address the impact of innovations and the role that our community could play in this changing context for “building a better future together by providing collective visions and/or roadmaps”.
Forum proposals will be considered based on the potential impact and breadth of interest in the ISPRS Community and level of support of the sponsoring group. Proposals that appear to be commercially focused or aimed at marketing a specific product or service will not be entertained.
Each forum organiser will produce a report which sets out the state of the art of the forum theme and will act as a guide to Council on the way forward. These reports will be edited and incorporated into a single document which will set out future potential directions.
The topic should be timely, relevant, and valuable to the ISPRS and CRSS-SCT communities, including graduate students, researchers, and professionals from academia, government, and industry. The concepts already identified for Forum attention in 2026 include:
• Legacy Project: How to Secure Funding to Support Geospatial Activities
• Access, Community and Belonging/ Fairness in the workplace to the Geospatial World (tentative title)
• Challenges Faced by National Mapping and Remote Sensing Agencies
Other topics that may be of interest should a champion emerge:
• The Role of Geospatial Information in Climate Change
• Geospatial Information in International Development and Poverty Alleviation
• The role of Geospatial Information in Emergency Management and Response
• The impact of AI in Geospatial Community
